Chicago Rock Cafe - May 20th 2005 |

A write up from Caroline (Cazza).

On Wednesday the 20th May Peter did a club PA at Chicago Rock Café in Braintree. My friend Charlotte had wanted to go to see what I was making all the fuss about so she had planned to meet me there. On the evening as I was heading out of the door with maps in hand when my phone rang and it was another friend asking me if she could come. I was shocked. People who usually roll their eyes at my liking of Mr Andre were actually wanting to come with me!!!

We arrived at Braintree at around 8.30-9.00. There was a slight queue but nothing drastic. Once inside we discovered it was absolutely packed! After being squashed for a few hours I managed to get at the front. Years of barging in the school bus queues must have paid off!

I kept in touch with Debs via text so that I could hopefully meet her and Lindsay (Lili).
Though we had been speaking for months via PM I had never actually met them to speak to. Once she had arrived at Braintree we sent hundreds of texts to try and locate each other. I was nearly at the point of taking a picture of the stage on my phone and sending it to Debs to show where I was! |

At which point I looked to the centre front of the stage and saw them! Frantically waving like a loony they spotted me. They were so good to get where they were considering they had arrived a lot later! One word - Jammy!!!

By the time it got to about 12.45 my feet were hurting and I was so hot. I needed a drink but there was no way I was giving up my spot!

Finally at about 12.00 Peter came through the crowd with a bunch of security and came bounding on the stage to the sound of the new single ‘Go’. I had been dying to hear it and I have to say it was fantastic. I would love for it to be released. It is so catchy with a funky beat and the intro to it is brilliant. He then said sorry for his lateness but him and Katie had been to look at wedding venues during the day. He then said that he had just eaten a McDonalds and he pointed at his stomach saying ‘Its just here. So I need to dance it off!’ At this point the introduction to Ooh La La La (Let’s Go Dancing) started. Another fab track. An upbeat summer tune! It was accompanied by a few nifty dance moves that went down very well with the crowd.
The next track was started by an introduction explaining where this certain song came from. Peter explained that in the jungle he had wrote a song. By this time everyone had guessed what it was and started to cheer. It was of course - Insania! Everyone was ‘do-do-doing’ to their loudest and the atmosphere was amazing.

|
However there was one more track that just had to be done. that is Mysterious Girl. To this he pulled a lady up in a red top onto the stage to sing part of it to her. She had been dying to get up there all night and I am sure Peter made her night. Everyone joined in with the ‘Woah woah woahs’ and you could tell the crowd loved hearing it again. Everyone had their camera phones out and was snapping the man in action. My lungs were being severely crushed by the amount of girls/women wanting to touch Peter as he ventured towards the crowd.

I think as a fan I have now learnt crushed ribs comes with the territory!! As the track came to an end a middle aged lady launched herself at Peter from the edge of the stage (when I say launched, I mean launched! I was quite impressed by the distance she covered!) Luckily she was caught by security and placed back in the crowd. Peter laughed and was thankful to the security guy!

When his set came to an end he said goodbye and made his exit. It had gone all too quickly. A lot of the crowd was disappointed as they were loved to have seen more.

I made my way outside to call Debs and Lili and find out where they were. I located them in the car park and we stood talking for a while. Was nice to finally get to meet them. As I had to get to work in the morning I had to say my goodbyes. It was about 1ish by this time.

So I made my way home. That was a nightmare and I got completely lost and after driving round an industrial estate I ended up in the middle of Braintree and map in one hand trying to get myself back on the right road. Then I realised I didn’t have enough petrol to get home and had to stop off at a deserted petrol station. I ended up getting home at about 4 ish! I only live in East London!! Never mind. All in the name of being a Peter Andre fan!!
