Eight-year-old Marie, from Newmarket, said: "I was very excited. When I met him the photographer took a picture of him giving me a kiss on the cheek and he signed my autograph book."

Aussie heartthrob Peter is enjoying being back in the limelight following his jungle adventure on the reality TV show and high-profile relationship with co-contestant Jordan. His song Mysterious Girl returned to the charts in February.

"I'm a very lucky guy and I know that. To make a comeback, and then of course to have a relationship, that was pretty amazing - all of that was pretty superb," said the 31-year-old.

The first Australian artist to have had a single debut in the UK singles chart at number one, Peter slipped into obscurity after his late 90s success and this time around he says he is not taking his music career for granted.

"Seven or eight years ago it was a conscious effort to step away - I wanted a break. When I wanted to step back in I couldn't do it," he said.

He says it is the chance to perform live once again that he gets most out of.
