Charter Hall - 19th June 2004 |
| |
This write up and pictures is from the evening show at Colchester. Firstly I have to say a big thankyou to a certain someone (who knows who he is) for arranging for us to go to this show.
This review has been done by my daughter Lauren. |

| On Saturday 19th June, after also watching the matinee performance, we went on to see the evening performance. We had to wait until just before the show started to be taken into the hall and were seated in the 3rd row, at the end of the stage. We had a good view of everything that was going on! |
| |
| First off a boy-band called Twen2y 4 Se7en came on. It appeared that up until them mentioning the programme ‘The OC’ we were the only ones cheering and clapping them, but it meant we got lots of attention from them! |
| |
| Next came Shakaya, an Australian duo. Earlier, in the matinee performance, Peter had informed us that they were multi-platinum selling artists in Australia . However, I found that I wasn’t too keen on their music. |
| |
| We were then told there would be a twenty minute interval. We decided to go back to the car to go and get some things and to take some stuff back. As we headed over we spotted Twen2y 4 Se7en by their car. We went over and got autographs and pictures with them, and they were really nice people! |
| |
| We soon headed back to the Charter Hall with about five minutes to go before Peter was due to perform. We found our seats again and we waited patiently. |
| |
| Soon enough the band began to set up on the stage. They then started to play the opening music to ‘Flava’. Soon Peter arrived on the stage wearing a white ‘Giants’ shirt and white trousers. Then he explained that on the new album there was a song he had covered from one of his favourite bands Kool & The Gang. He then sang a summery song called ‘Ooh La La La’. He then went back an old album and performed ‘I Feel You’. |
He then took the time to explain that the next song he was going to perform was also on the album and had been written very quickly after his return from the jungle, like most of the album. The next song he sang was ‘All Cried Out’.
|
|
|
Then again, he went back to an earlier album and sang ‘All About Us’.
At the next point he announced that this was his favourite part of the show because it was where he challenged a member of the audience to come on the stage and sing a duet of a song from the new album. He explained he wanted someone who knew all the words no matter what song he chose. He picked a woman who, when on stage, was given a microphone and was asked to sing ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ with him. She was very enthusiastic and looked like she was having a lot of fun, obviously too much fun as she didn’t realise when she was supposed to leave the stage! |
 |
|
Then came an acoustic version of ‘Hotel California’ by the Eagles. For this the whole band minus Shakaya, who were acting as backing singers, sat on stools to either side of Peter on acoustic guitars. Peter sung the first verse and chorus, and Chris, his brother, sang the second verse and did a guitar solo when half way through the song Peter went off stage for a costume change.
He soon came back on in a silver two-piece outfit, and took his place in between the band again and finished the song. He then asked the audience to thank his brother and cheer for him, which many people did do. |
| Peter then explained that the next song he was going to sing was written in a particularly bad time for him when he needed to write a song. This song was ‘Lonely’. |
| |
Next he sung ‘Natural’ and promised to do the dance routine he used to do the first time around.
The audience was told by him that his main inspiration or idol was Michael Jackson. However he pointed out that he liked the Michael before the plastic surgery better. |
| He then performed his own version of the Jackson 5’s ‘Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)’. It went down well and got anyone who knew it, singing and dancing along. He then pretended that that was it, thanked everyone for being there and then left the stage along with the band. But no more than a minute later the band had returned and so had Peter in a white t-shirt and dark coloured trousers. |
He then performed ‘Untouchable’ also from the new album and then got everyone in the Charter Hall singing and dancing along to ‘Mysterious Girl’.
Again, Peter left the stage leaving the audience wondering if he would return. After a short wait he did in the red fleece he wore in the jungle and his jungle hat. |
 |
|
| He started talking about his time in the jungle with the sound of birds and thunder in the background. He then decided to try and impress us by ‘making the birds stop’. He went on to explain how he got the idea of Insania…simply by being bored and thinking that the next two weeks would drive him ‘insane’. |
| |
| Next came the trial to see if the audience were ‘insane’ or ‘insania’. If we were ‘insania’ we would raise the roof, if not, we would just be loud. After a few attempts the audience finally made it to ‘insania’ meaning the start of a performance that everyone enjoyed. It was extended a bit and then that really was it. That was the end of the show. |
Looking around you could see that everyone had enjoyed themselves and would say they got what they paid for.
Overall I think everyone felt it was a good night and a success for Peter.
