Danson Park, Bexleyheath - 2nd July 2006 |
| |
| Peter performed at the Danson Festival, in Bexleyheath, Kent on a bright, hot and sunny Sunday afternoon. This write up is from Hilary. |

Sunday 2nd July, was a beautiful summer’s day, in fact it was too hot, to be getting in the car and driving to Kent, but this was different as I was taking my family to see Peter perform!
The journey took us across London, but what my Sat Nav could not tell me, was that our journey would come across a lot of traffic and road works. We had now been in the car for over an hour and I was trying to keep calm even though I was so hot!
I took a wrong left hand turn. Not knowing where we were, I just had to wait for the Sat Nav to adjust. It did, but then I did it again! I don’t know if it was the heat or just the excitement of seeing Peter, that was making me loose my concentration! |

Eventually at 4.30pm, two hours after leaving Ruislip we arrived at Danson Park. We parked up and started to walk through the park. I could hear the music and was trying to find a blue dome, as Deb’s had texted me, saying that was where the stage was. The park was massive, with so many people and lots going on, but all I was concerned about was reaching that stage!
Once there, I stopped to the side of the stage and tried to look out for Debs and Cazza. I could see them right at the front and in the centre. I immediately started to text Debs and she tried to get me to join them. That was impossible; I had been left with bags as Luca had gone off with his Dad, so I thought all I could do was stand where I was. Different acts were performing and all the time they kept saying not long before Peter Andre joins us on stage. I just wanted to fast forward to Peter, never mind anyone else!
Whilst standing on my own, someone touched my shoulder; I turned round to see Chloe and Jess. We tried to have a conversation but the music was just too loud. |

| The time had arrived and Peter came on stage. Also I could see Katie and Junior walk into the pit area, which sent the crowd really buzzing! I kept thinking Junior must be at his first concert and he is only one!
Pete opened his set of songs with 'Sign your Name'. It was so good hear his new material, but I think looking around at the people, they thought he should be singing 'Mysterious Girl'! His next song was 'Hypnotic', also new and Luca was asking me what song it was? I replied with, its all Pete’s new music and it is just great! Peter then spoke to the crowd and talked about the disappointing result in the World Cup for England . |
| |
Peter then went on to perform 'Hotel California', which was a definite crowd pleaser, especially as he came off the stage and walked along the pit area. Everyone pushed forward just to try and reach out to him. Peter seemed oblivious to what was going on as he continued singing the classic whilst he walked back to the stage.
It was not quite the same without his brother Chris on guitar, but was still so good to hear, as the last time I heard this was on the Insania tour at Watford in 2004. The crowd were enjoying the song and were singing along to it. |

He then livened the music back up with the Kool and the Gang number 'Ooh La La La' and added some dance steps.
Next came a Stevie Wonder song called 'I Wish'. Before singing it Pete explained to the crowd how the words reminded him of his childhood as his dad was strict and he also mentioned that people usually cover Stevie Wonder ballads but he wanted to do a more uptempo one.

To end his set, Peter did 'Insania' and 'Mysterious Girl'. The crowd just loved it and were waving their hands and singing along to these very popular songs of Pete’s! All too soon it was over and Pete, said his goodbyes and left the stage. |

As the festival had now finished, the crowd started to leave the stage area. I waited until I could see Debs, Cazza, Mitchell and Lucas. I walked over to them and was shortly joined by Chloe and Jess. We talked about Pete’s performance and how good it was and how the large crowd just loved him.
Peter did not disappoint as usual, and everything had been worth it to see him. This man is a born entertainer!
Thanks to Pete and all his dedicated fans, who travelled many, many miles to see him. I think we can all say, it was great day and definitely worth it!! |
