Jumpin' Jaks Basildon - 14th April 2005

On Thursday 14th April I went to Jumpin' Jaks at Basildon with two friends to see Peter Andre performing there. This page is made up of mine and Lili's account of the evening and our photos.

Hilary and I met Lili outside the club, we went in and a lady pulled Lili aside and then asked us to follow her… Lili had ordered a bottle of champagne and we settled down with that and started to enjoy ourselves.
We knew that Peter was going to be on stage at midnight and I was supposed to get a call when he arrived at the club, but being downstairs I had no signal!! (and nor did they I later found out!)
We made our way to the front of the stage at about 11.30, Lili just pushed her way through the crowd to the front – I was worried she was going to get a slap!! But followed anyway, closely follwed by Hilary!
We were there about 5 minutes and Lili said “sod this”, took my phone and disappeared….only to reappear 2/3 mins later with 'How do i unlock it?' and then off she went...

Lili had had enough of standing around so off she went on her mission. She found the nice lady who she had spoken to earlier and asked her where Peter was, she told her to ask the man on the stage, so off she went, the man on the stage took her to another man and she said “Hi, I’m here to see Peter, it’s Lindsay” and off he went…..
He came back a few minutes later and took her through several doors to a private lounge where Peter and co were sitting around relaxing. He saw her come in, jumped up and came running over with “Lindsay, babe, hello” and they nattered away, before she remembered me and Hilary were outside.
She excused herself and went back out to the club, screaming “Debs, Hilary” – she eventually found us and dragged us off with her, amidst protests of “We had a good position there!” Hahahaha she just laughed!!

Lili: We all trotted back into the private lounge and met up with Peter and co, he was signing autographs for various people and we just chatted away - me with my cherry vodka, no doubt slurring my words!

We were introduced to a few people and chatted away to them. Peter asked about my flat and asked where it was and one of the women from the club informed him it was a very posh area!

Apparently, and I say apparently as I can’t quite remember due to a bottle of Moét and 2 vodkas, but I did a little interrogation and pushed him on a few issues!

Debs was trying to defend him saying “Lili you know he can’t answer that!!” – sorry Pete!

We all had photos taken and we talked about the new single and we ‘discussed’ Insania (and my feelings towards it!)… he seemed to agree.

Then it was time for him to perform, I told him to be careful as Basildon people were ‘evil’, I remember saying ‘evil’ in a very ‘evil’ way, poor Peters face, he said “evil” with a scary look and I laughed! He then went on to do his Dr Evil impressions from Austin Powers.

At one point he started dancing about as we were talking to someone else and I (Debs) said 'Are you practising for later?' and he said he needed to as he hasn't danced for ages.

We went back out into the bar and stood on the side of the stage waiting for him, a few minutes later he ran out and jumped on the stage.

He opened with his new single, which is really good, he is really proud of it, and so he should be. It is titled 'Go' and he said it would be released later this year.

Then he did one of his favourites 'Ooh La La La' by Kool and the Gang and then got the crowd 'Do, Do, Do-ing' to lead into 'Insania', closing with the ever popular 'Mysterious Girl'. We thought the crowd were great, they really got into it and we didn’t hear any abuse or heckling which was lovely, so Lili concluded that Basildon people are not ‘evil’ after all!

Lili: We made our way back through the crowd to the private lounge, encountering a few disgruntled clubbers, who were a little green I suppose, and Peter followed us in.

He picked up a t-shirt (his white Giants one) and started to wipe himself down with it – I remember saying “Peter urghhh” and he went on to explain that it absorbs the sweat well.

At this point one of the Jumpin' Jaks staff asked if he wanted a towel and we said that he did. Soon a large bluey fluffy towel was produced for him to wipe down on.

We then chatted away some more, we chatted about my niece and on her behalf I asked him “Why do you wear jeans with holes in them” – he found that quite funny, and went on to explain that he doesn't wear them out any more. He also showed us his nice new boots!

We chatted about the baby and the wedding and life and children and his career and the old days and he kept saying to Debs “How cool is it that after all these years she is still here”…ahhhhh bless, you might say but it reminded me of an ‘issue’ I had with him and so I told him off, much to the amusement of Debs!

Debs: We talked about his visit to Australia and Katie and Harvey how good he looked - Lili asked if the tan was real... she didn't believe him when he said it was and she kept saying 'Come on it was out of a bottle wasn't it, mine is!' and he insisted it was real saying he was in Australia for about 4 weeks - I noticed his accent is a lot stronger again too and mentioned it - and he was like 'Do you think so?', and I said it was a lot stronger than it was when I saw him the other week at MOM'.

Lili: I asked what sex the baby is he wouldn’t tell me but I questioned him some more and I think I’ve worked it out, if I am right all I can say is ahhhhhhh! Again Debs came to his rescue and told me off for asking questions that he couldn't answer!

Debs: Then he went on to say that there is a great issue of OK! coming out soon with some gorgeous pictures of Kate with Harvey. He said it would be in next weeks issue and got this confirmed. Lili commented on how well she hid the pregnancy and we talked about that and then Pete turned to me and said 'Do you know I didnt even know of her then?'

He then showed us a flashy key and went on to tell us all about his lovely flashy new car, it is stunning and he looks great driving it. It is a silver Porsche, with a black interior.

We all trotted out to have a look and he was like a little boy with a new toy…

Then all too soon it was time to say our goodbyes as he climbed into the car, with a smile beaming from ear to ear. He does look good in the car and it suits him. We wished him a safe journey back home and waved him off.
