Peter Andre 2005 Official Site

Philharmonic Hall - 26th June 2004

This review is written by Vicky Barwise from Liverpool. She had a very special night, as you will find out when you read it.

When I heard that Peter Andre was to do a tour through the ticket line newsletter I receive on a regular basis, I was pleased and decided that I would book two tickets to attend. I decided to take my eleven year old niece Adele White, after she had recently watched, “I’m a Celebrity – get me out of here” and really liked Peter Andre. I attended Peter’s first tour in Liverpool in 1997 with a friend at the Liverpool Empire and really enjoyed it – so thought this would be the perfect opportunity for Adele to get to see him live.

We waited and waited for the date to arrive and Adele got more and more excited as the day got closer. Adele had been asking me all day what happened at the last concert I went. I explained to her that it was really good and exciting and that it would probably be different this time – but I did say to her that Peter picked somebody out of the crown and got them up on stage and sang to them. I said to her, “What would you do if it was you”, she laughed and said "I would be made up".

When we arrived at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall we were both really excited, but this was Adele’s first concert that she had been to– so it would always be something to remember (but I did help with this as you will find out).

We both really enjoyed the two support acts that were on before Peter Andre, they were Twen2y4Se7en (a boy group with four members) and Shakaya (two girls, who were also Peter Andre’s backing singers), but I think Adele was really excited about Peter Andre coming on stage – she had only ever seen him on the television and we were on the fourth row very close to the stage. We had really good seats and could see everything, as the seats in front of us were empty on the third row.

When the lights went down after the interval and Peter Andre came on stage the screams were unbelievable and it brought back memories of the last time when I attended the Liverpool Empire. Adele was really excited and had the biggest smile I have ever seen on her face. The atmosphere was great. Peter started off with Flava – a song taken from his Natural Album. Adele didn’t know this song, as she only new his latest songs from his new album – The Long Road Back and of course Mysterious Girl. When he sang songs from the new album she was so made up, as she knew them. I have never seen her so excited in my life.

We were both up singing and dancing through the whole concert. Half way through, Peter Andre said that he would be getting somebody up on stage to do a duet and I laughed and said to Adele, I hope you’ve learned all the words because it might be you. At this point I had seen Peter Andre’s brother pointing over in our direction and I remember saying to Adele, look it might be you. The next thing I remember Peter was asking who had the new album as the duet was going to be a song from it. Adele and I never put our hands up even though we had it, because we had seen Peter’s brother and the Security Guards pointing over at us. Well that’s when the turning point of the concert came into place for me, they were actually pointing at me. I had been the one chosen to get up on the stage and sing a duet with Peter. I really, honestly couldn’t believe that I had been selected out of everybody that was there. I was taken backstage and I felt so embarrassed, getting on the stage in front of the whole hall. I remember getting a hug and kiss and was given a microphone and I suddenly thought oh no, I can’t even sing. Peter got me a stool and sat me in the middle of the stage – I just felt like everybody was watching me and I kept putting my hands on my head, I couldn’t believe that this was happening. Peter asked me did I sing and I said no. He asked if I would like some help from somebody else in the crowd, so I said yes, we both picked the first girl we seen, she was sitting on the front row, near to were Katie Price (Jordan) was sitting. When she got up on the stage she was also given a stool and sat next to me. We introduced ourselves, her name was Holly. By this time the music was playing in the background to, “Never Gonna Give You Up”. I remember Holly saying that she didn’t know the words and I suddenly thought Oh No! Peter said that we would sing in a triangle, he would sing to me and Holly would sing back to him, but it didn’t end up working like that. Peter took the microphone back off me and gave it to Holly. Then the song started, and Peter was singing to me. I was singing along but Holly never knew the words so he took the Microphone back off her and gave it to me. I remember thinking – I am never going to get this opportunity again and there would be loads of people who would love this chance to be on stage with Peter. So from that point I thought go for it girl. So I did, Peter then took me off the stool, hand in hand and got me up singing and dancing with him. I really enjoyed the whole experience and still can’t believe that it happened. At the end of the song we both returned to our seats.

Adele was waiting for me and she said I can’t believe you have met him – I wish I could have met him. I felt really mean that she couldn’t, but when I was selected I asked if I could take her with me, but the Security Guards said no, that I had to go on my own. When I was given the chance to pick somebody else out of the crowd I looked over to where our seats were but Adele wasn’t there.

The whole of the concert was great – from supports acts, to Peter’s singing, dancing and his band and the chance to see Katie Price (Jordan) there watching Peter Andre. I had just finished reading her book and thought it was great, I would recommend it to anybody who is interested in her life story.

I would just like to say a BIG BIG THANK YOU for making it a night to remember for both Adele and me.

Love
