Shepherds Bush Empire - 11th July 2005

I have done this write up with my daughter's help in places. Apologies if the set list isn't 100% accurate in order, but this show was different to the others and as you can imagine it was hard to remember it all.

We arrived at Shepherds Bush at around 12.45, in time to get to be one of the first ones in to get a good place as this venue was for unreserved standing. We had arranged to meet some friends that were travelling over from Holland there and another friend that was taking her six year old niece. We sat on the steps of The Empire and passed the 6 hours chatting, eating and generally watching what was going on around us, which included a bus colliding with a car, 24/7 going past on their way to the gym and lots of comments from passers-by.

We were let in a few at a time and ran down the steps and all of us plus the lady and friends at the front of the queue all managed to get to the centre part of the front row. Then we had a long, hot wait for the support to come on. Shepherds Bush was packed out, upstairs and downstairs.

First up was Shakaya who performed three songs including 'Cinderella', then it was Twen2y4se7en, who I think did five songs. They were great as usual, they recognise us now too, so there are lots of winks and smiles from them and Andy kept jumping down to the platform in front of the barrier to tag hands. Near the end of the set Andy was smiling at me so I beckoned him down off the stage, which he did, and I pointed to my daughter Lauren and he gave her a really big hug while singing and made her night get off to a great start.
There was then an interval which seemed a lot longer than at previous shows, and it was so hot in there that security starting passing around water for everyone.

Peter Andre on stage for his London Show 2004

No-one would leave their space for drinks as you wouldn't have got back. The lights dimmed and the screams started but still no Peter! We were running out of excuses of where he was and what he was doing for the 6 year old that was with us! We had already done the tying his shoelaces, drinking his tea, getting dressed etc!

Finally the musicians came out and started up. The atmosphere was an excited tension as we waited for Peter to come out, then he burst onto stage to the usual opener of Flava, wearing the red vest and white trousers outfit. He then went into Party all Night, followed by Ooh La La La La. From where we were it seemed like the crowd was loving him, and again all were singing and clapping, screaming and waving arms, the front few rows trying to touch him when he came to the front of the stage.

When the lights get turned on, to the line "On came the lights" in Ooh La La La we could see that on the first level of the seating was Peter's girlfriend Katie Price (Jordan) with her friend Sally, manager Claire and Pete's brother Michael. Katie waved to the crowd.

Next, I think, came I Feel You and this slowed things down a little, but it was a great performance of the song, with lots of emotion coming through.

Pete left the stage briefly to change into a white shirt and came back looking down to see if it was done up correctly!

The next song was the dancing one that gets everyone screaming - 'You Got Me Thinking'. For this one Peter tells the crowd that he isn't a Ricky Martin but the song has a Latino feel to it so he is going to do some dancing. He turns his back to us and starts his bum wiggling! He seems to really enjoy doing this one, the dancing and teasing with lifting his shirt to reveal a little flesh!

After this he announces that this is a special part of the show as he gets someone up to sing with him. First of all he looks for his brother Michael to find someone, but then realises he is upstairs on the balcony with Katie, so he sends 'Big Chris' who he called 'Little Chris' out to find someone, and added "Today!' I don't know how he found someone as there was so much crushing and people trying to get chosen. A lot of people pointed to Katie and I think would have liked to see her on stage.

A girl was lifted onto stage and seemed very confident and happily sang 'Never Gonna Give You Up' with Peter, she even danced a bit with him. Peter seemed impressed with her.

The musicians then came to the front of the stage on stools and we were expecting 'Hotel California' as this has been done at the other shows, but tonight the set list had changed and we had an acoustic version of 'What is Love?', which was good but his brother Chris' talents were more noticeable in Hotel California.

Peter then sings another track off his album, The Long Road Back, which is 'The Right Way'.

The pace slows down for Untouchable

I had heard him do this previously at Rockingham, but this was without the band. Tonight's version was so much better and Peter certainly impressed me with the way he held the long note at the end of it. When I first heard the album, I said it would be interesting to hear it live, because of that note, but Peter did it, and he did it well! Who says this man can't sing????

The next song was what a lot of the crowd had come to hear....'Mysterious Girl'. Again, the same at the other venues, everyone was singing and dancing along to it, and for a lot of the younger ones it was the highlight of the show. At the end of the song he introduced and thanked all the members of the band individually and they did a small solo.

He then went off for a costume change and came back in a yellow t-shirt with torn jeans, which prompted the six year old with us to ask us why his trousers had holes in them! He sat on a stool in the centre of the stage and sung 'Untouchable', then quickly went off at the end again and came back with his jungle clothes on. He talked about the others being asleep early and then when he got to Katie he said she went to bed a bit later, and smiled, and it was met with lots of screams. He talked about critics again and that he hopes to come back again and again and again!
Then he gets to the last song of the night, which of course is Insania, the crowd goes mad 'do, do dooing' and then it is goodnight and Peter and the band disappear off stage.

We were due to meet Peter after the show and were ushered to one side while the people filed out and rubbish was picked up. After about half an hour Peter came out to us, and we had photos done, programmes etc signed, and lots of hugs and kisses. We spent some time chatting with him and his manager Claire and it was a perfect end to a fantastic day.

Peter, Katie and Michael then left in the people carrier with the driver. We stayed for a while and spoke to some of the band and said goodbye to Shakaya and them. We then saw Twen2y4Se7en and had pictures done with them. Thom and Andy stayed for a bit talking to us about their upcoming 'Magazine Tour' and this tour.

We ended the night chatting with Chris, as one of the people we were with knew him personally.

And then it was all over, the day and the tour. Hopefully Peter and the band will now get some rest, they deserve it!

The following is Emma Hall's account of Shepherds Bush

What can i say? I was totally blown away by the show Peter put on in London last week! He couldn't have sang or performed better if he'd tried! I arrived at around lunch time to find only a few people in the queue! My heart sunk when I realised that I would be at the front!! I couldn't believe it! As the hours passed, the queue started to get longer! Me and my friend started to get excited and I really couldn't believe that I was there. We were joined in the queue by some of Peter's friends who he'd known for years!! They were telling us all about him and what a lovely guy he was and then the excitement really did build up!!

Finally, the doors were opened and my heart fell straight into my stomach! I had been waiting for this moment for eight years and it was finally here! I couldnt believe it!

We ran inside and I was right at the front! The support acts came on and really got the crowds going especially Twen2y4Se7en who were excellent! The lights went down for Peter to come on and I started crying like a baby! He ran on stage and I don't think i've ever screamed so loud in my life!!! The moment I had been waiting for so long for was finally here!!!! OMG!!!

He was superb and he performed every song without error!!

If you read this Peter, then well done!!! I think you're an absolute star and you deserve every success!! Keep going and never let anyone put you down!! I live in Weymouth and can't wait to see you down here next month!!!!! My dream is to meet you so you never know!!!!!????? One day.......... xxxxxxxxx
