André amazed at 'Insania' mania
|
|
MASS hysteria hit Scarborough's Futurist Theatre when Peter André came to town.
More than 2,000 fans of all ages arrived at the Futurist last night, with men and boys outnumbered by hundreds to one. |
|

Some came without tickets and were just there to see if they could catch a glimpse of the singer arrive for the show.

Accompanying him was girlfriend model Jordan.

Peter earlier said he did not expect her to be around for the show, but for the first time so far in his tour she joined him on stage and he sang his biggest hit, Mysterious Girl, to her.

Even before the support acts came on stage the screams were deafening.

Security staff struggled to control the hordes of girls who became increasingly unruly as Peter's arrival got closer.

Futurist manager Andrew Nesbitt said he had never seen anything like it.

First to arrive, more than three hours before the singer was due on stage, were friends Nicola Jenkinson, 16, of Filey, and Gillian Smith, 17, of Cayton, who had fifth-row tickets.

After supporting acts 24/7 and Shakaya came and went, it was time for Peter's debut on stage. He came out to old hit Flava, fans crowded round the stage area, stood on their seats, waved banners, chanted, screamed, cried and threw underwear at the singer.

After just two songs he told them: "You guys are that amazing. I don't think it gets much better than this."
