Embassy Theatre - 10th July 2004 |
| |
| The following write up was sent in by Tracy from Ilkestone in Derbyshire. |
| |
| I arrived in Skeggy at approximately 6 pm, after a 90 mile drive from Ilkeston (Derbyshire) and there was no problem in parking next to the beach, about 50 yards from the theatre. |
| |
| The second port of call after the chippy was the Embassy Theatre where Peter's merchandise was on show and on sale so I helped myself to another cup, key ring and I also bought a T-Shirt and photo. I noticed that the prices were a bit cheaper here than in Nottingham, a programme was £5 compared to £8. |
| |
| We were all let in at about 7:30 and waited for the support acts to start. First on was Twen2y4Se7en who were nice and lively and really got the audience moving, although my husband thought their lyrics on one of their songs regarding European and Japanese girls was a bit risky for the younger members of the audience, although their album will soon be bought. |
| |
| Shakaya were also on next and they are fine singers. |
| |
| The arena was quite comfortable and everyone had a good view. Everyone was in high spirits as we waited patiently for Peter to arrive and there was a few banners regarding Peters Mysterious Girls and another one which requested to see a particular item belonging to Peter. |
| |
| Thankfully there were no whistlers this time around! |
| |
| Peter started at 9.10 pm and opened with Flava which got everyone up off their seats. He was wearing his red sports vest and white combat trousers. After Flava he said he was happy to be back in Skegness for the second time, and said for a small theatre it could generate a lot of noise. This was the second sell out gig at Skegness, he should come here more often! |
He then sang All Night All Right, Natural, Ooh La La La and I Feel You. Someone threw on stage a large pair of red knickers, which he picked up and with a smile on his face, threw them at the guitarist.
He introduced his brother Michael and asked him to pick someone to sing with him. He said that although there was a lot of beautiful girls on the front row, he could pick someone from further back, anyway he left it to his brother, who set off like a man on a mission and went to at least 50% of the way back and picked out a girl ( Laura I think her name was) to come on stage and sing with. Peter then said that this is not a set up and demonstrated that both microphones were live by saying that familiar phrase testing testing !. Anyway, Laura sat on a stool and sang Never Gonna Give You Up and Peter helped her along. |
|
|
| Although she must have been in a daze on the stage next to Peter, she did OK. |
| Peter changed his top to a white shirt for a couple of songs and then put a blue sporty top on. |
He also sang You Got Me Thinking before doing an acoustic section with an excellent version of Hotel California and What is Love?. He also sat on a stool singing All Cried Out. He then sang The Right Way and finished with Mysterious Girl.
My husband commented that he hadn’t sung his favourite one, That’s Where I Belong and I said it's unfortunate, but he can't sing everything.
As Peter was no doubt having a change and a drink the eager audience began shouting Peter, Peter, Peter accompanied with a foot stamping which nearly brought the place down.
He changed into a yellow top with jeans to sing Untouchable for the first of his encore songs. |
|
|
| He then left and quickly changed into his red jungle waistcoat and hat to sing the hit Insania before which most of the downstairs audience decided to leave their seats and run towards the stage. |
| |
| Before he even started to sing the audience had started for him and he watched happily as doo doo doo doo doo was belted out by the audience. Peter went up and down the front of the stage shaking their hands and also a put the microphone down into the audience for them to sing. |
| |
| Sadly, that was the last song and Peter finished at approximately 10:30pm. A few photos were taken although most of them came out a bit blurred. My husband wished he would keep still so he could take a photograph of him from the balcony, although the security guard threatened to confiscate the camera as it had a zoom lens on it. |
| |
| Overall, it was another fantastic night and everyone went away happy and hoping that he would be back someday with a new album. My husband admitted that he was surprised by the concert as he was a bit apprehensive beforehand. He thought that Peter was a very good entertainer, very professional and knew exactly what the audience wanted and said Peter should be given another album deal as not only does he deserve it after giving an outstanding performance on a sell out tour, but his fans will be wanting one too. |
| |
| Another very good show and one I shall never forget and hope that after he has a deserved break, that he will be back again. |
