Xmas Lights Switch On - 17th November 2005 |
| |
| On Thursday 17th December Peter went to Slough to turn on the Christmas lights. By the time he arrived just before 6pm a good crowd had gathered around the stage area. |
| |
| Local radio presenters kept the crowd entertained with Christmas carols and popular music. At 6pm the presenters announced the Mayor of Slough and Father Christmas on to the stage and then the man the crowd had patiently waited for, for a couple of hours despite the cold - Peter Andre with the competition winners. |
| |
A countdown from ten to one took place and they pressed the button for the lights around the Town Square.
This also cued the start of a very impressive firework display from the roof of the adjacent building.
Peter appeared to enjoy watching the fireworks, but it was obvious he was very cold and wanted to begin his performance. |

| Just before the end of the fireworks he signalled to the sound man to start the music and he launched into 'Ooh La La La', originally done by Kool and the Gang. It was a great start, and the very large crowd were singing and clapping along to it. |

He then talked a bit about how when he came out of the jungle he only had a few weeks to get an album together and he wasn't entirely happy with some of the songs and introduced 'Go', saying it was more the sort of music he wanted to do.
A sample of 'Flava' was thrown in towards the end, with Peter stating that it was released some eight years earlier.

The next song was 'All Time Girl' and for this one he said he liked the words in it - of course his fans knew that this song was written for his then girlfriend, Katie Price.

His set closed with Mysterious Girl and he said you either love it or hate it. Judging by the reaction of the crowd more people loved it than hated it! |

| Peter thanked the crowd and said he was amazed at British people standing around in the cold waiting, stating that in Australia they wouldn't! I think he was very surprised and happy to see such a large crowd and as far as I could tell everyone enjoyed his performance. |

| At the end he came off the stage to walk around the 'pit' area to sign autographs. At this point there were a lot of screams and a fair bit of pushing. Signed photos were handed out by security as Peter made his way round the whole area. As he got to where we were the crowd really did start to surge forwards and some small children (including my son) had to be pulled out for their safety. Security did a great job of keeping them safe and announced to the crowd to take a step back. Understandably everyone wanted to get as close to Peter as possible. |

He worked his way all around the stage area and all I could hear was positive comments from people about how good he was and also what a nice guy he is.
I got the impression that some were quite surprised by the music and thoroughly enjoyed the performance.
Below are a couple of photos taken after the performance.
